Dear Sponsor

As chairperson of the local organising committee, I am delighted to invite you to join us at the Spring meeting of the Association of British Neurologists to be held in Dublin on the Wednesday to Friday, the 26-28th March 2008. This will be only the second visit of the ABN to Dublin, the first being in 1964, when a considerably smaller ABN had a reception in the home of Dr Eddie Martin!

This time the ABN is hosting a joint meeting with the British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology (BSCN). The conference will be held in the Croke Park Conference Centre, which has ample space for parallel sessions, poster displays and a large area for Industry stands. There is a 200 bed Jurys Hotel just across the road from the centre and Dublin has many other top class international and small luxury hotels not far from the conference venue.

Dublin, a vibrant beautiful city with a proud history has become in recent years a favourite destination for international visitors for reasons which include its compact size, Georgian architecture and many cultural attractions. This is a city, with a turbulent history, the backdrop for the most famous 20th century novel, James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, famed for its friendliness, “craic” and Guinness.

Reflecting the combination of Neurology and Neurophysiology, we have important keynote speakers including Professors Sam Berkovic (Melbourne) Erik Stålberg (Uppsala) and Thomas Gasser from Tuebingen.

We know that this will be an exciting meeting combining scientific, educational, cultural and social aspects, which will attract a large contingent of members of both The ABN and the BSCN and in fact there have been nearly 150 abstracts for the meeting.

I would be delighted to meet with you in order to discuss the plans for this meeting and to accommodate our mutual desires to make this a memorable and rewarding event.

I can be contacted directly by e-mail: mhutchin@iol.ie , by mobile: +353 (0) 86 817 6049, or via the ABN office.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Hutchinson
Consultant Neurologist, St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin
